Living with or supporting a loved one with a mental health condition can be challenging. NAMI Hampton / Newport News offers resources specifically designed to help family members navigate these challenges, find support, and gain valuable knowledge.

Family-to-Family is a comprehensive educational program for family members of individuals with serious mental illnesses. This evidence-based course covers:

  • Information on various mental health conditions
  • Current treatments and medications
  • Communication techniques
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Self-care strategies for caregivers

Classes run for 8 weeks and are taught by trained family members who have lived experience. Registration is required, and courses are offered twice a year.

  • Trained peer facilitators with lived experience
  • No cost to attend
  • No formal diagnosis required
  • Meetings typically last 90 minutes
