On Monday, July 14, we’ll be joined by a speaker from the Newport News Sheriff’s Department. The topic: how officers are trained to respond when someone is in crisis. Not just protocol, but presence—what they see, what they do, and how they’re taught to do it.
The conversation will center on CIT – Crisis Intervention Team – training. You’ve probably heard about it. Many of you have lived the stories that make this training necessary. This is your chance to ask questions, to understand what goes right, and to speak to what sometimes goes wrong.
We know this matters. For families, for peers, for people just out of the hospital -this is a common thread in our groups. We want to open it up.
We hope to see you out there! Support groups continue as usual through the summer and more info can be found on our calendar.
